In MS Word

  • General advice for many versions of Word. [1]
  • In MSWord, click "File-->Info-->Check for Issues-->Inspect Document-->Inspect. You will see an option to delete author information if it is found.
  • In MacWord, file -> properties -> summary. But sometimes your name will reappear if you go back into the summary box. To really erase it, Word -> Preferences -> User Information -> Any name (but yours) -> Check Box

In Google docs

  • To save a google doc as a .docx file, click "File" and "Download" and follow prompts for .docx. In a recent test, I found that my name did not get attached to the .docx file. You can go into your google account and set your name to "anon" if your wish. [2]
