:* In MSWord, click "File-->Info-->Check for Issues-->Inspect Document-->Inspect.  You will see an option to delete author information if it is found.

:* In MacWord, file -> properties -> summary.  But this may only remove your name from the specific file.  

==In Google docs==

:*To save a google doc as a .docx file, click "File" and "Download" and follow prompts for .docx.  In a recent test, I found that my name did not get attached to the .docx file.
