Return to Critical Thinking Reference
The Coached Discussion involves a live discussion among a group of critical thinking students observed by a critical thinking coach. Following the discussion, the group participates in an evaluation of the process and substance of the discussion. We look at all aspects of verbal and non-verbal communication, the effect of reflective voice, the quality of argumentation and explanation, and the kinds of critical response used. Ultimately, our goal is to ask how the discussion developed and how it might have been more effective.
