The study involved 100 elderly men with varying degrees of obesity. Initially, for 10 weeks, they were on a diet with severe calorie restriction. Then, for 56 weeks, some of them were injected with testosterone undecanoate intravenously. During the diet, all elderly people lost weight both due to the loss of fat mass (~3 kg on average) and muscle mass (~4 kg on average). Those who then took testosterone restored muscle mass.
