Librarian's Comments

International AIDS Need more articles from journals. Some good websites but need a wider variety of content including research and or opinion articles. Take a look at ProQuest or the Opposing Viewpoings database which is a new database at Foley. Check the list of journals of thought and opinion to see what points of view are represented by specific magazines. Not sure how the regions were picked, and it seemed like there were some articles talking about AIDS in the US but they seemed out of place since most talked about the US response to AIDS internationally or AIDS in other countries. The focus seemed kind of muddied. It wasn't clear if the focus is on the US or the International AIDS relief. Big topic, so think about ways to narrow the topic. Annotations could be more complete. No attempt to give appropriate citations to the websites. Most of the citations are web-based, either .com or .org or .gov.

GLOBAL DIMMING Excellent annotations and citations!! A good job! A good selection of articles from different sources. Use of EBSCO databases and the Web is evident. Could use some articles from some journal of thought and opinion that offer different perspectives and this would strengthen the controversies section.

HEALTH CARE Good annotations, although selecting articles with a stronger point of view would help. Some use of journals of thought and opinion would be a way to establish arguments on different sides of the issues. It was good to see the perspectives from the presidential candidates and also health policies from different countries for comparision. A big topic to tackle unless there is a specific position or point of view which can help narrow the focus.

Campus housing Good local sources from Gonzaga related to campus housing and policies. Also, good information from other schools. Is it possible that there are articles out there in the journal literature that address this issue? If not they might need to explicitly state that. Keeping the focus local is good, but perhaps a few articles to provide a glimpse at college campus trends and perspectives.
